This is one of the most important phrases people can learn when traveling in Thailand — or anywhere for that matter. Do you speak English? Khun phoot pasaa angrit dai mai คุณพูดภาษาอังกฤษได้ไหม

The shorter way to say this would be:

Phoot angrit dai mai? พูดอังกฤษได้ไหม

On the other side, you can arm yourself with this phrase:

I can not speak Thai Pom/Chan phoot pasaa Thai mai dai ผม/ฉันพูดภาษาไทยไม่ได้

Again, there is a shorter way to say this:

Phoot Thai mai dai พูดไทยไม่ได้
